KE Sponsored NED Formula SAE Car unveiled by Governor Sindh

Karachi, June 29, 2016: Governor Sindh and Chancellor NED Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad unveiled the K- Electric sponsored NED Formula Style Racing Car in a ceremony held at the Sindh Governor House.

Team NED Formula Racing consists of 14 members and is led by Muhammad Ahsan Arshad and Muhammad Rafi who have been working tirelessly and round-the-clock at a local workshop where they have built the car from scratch. The car would be competing in the upcoming SAE event in Italy later this year.

CEO K-Electric Tayyab Tareen shared his pride to be associated with the Formula SAE car that would be representing Pakistan in the international circuit. “We believe in giving back to the society and youth engagement is a key component of our social investment programs. We have some great emerging talent in the country which must be given an opportunity to shine. We hope that Team NED goes on to achieve its goals and make the nation proud.”

This ceremony was also attended by Chief Marketing and Communication Officer Fakhar Ahmed amongst other KE officials as well as Chairman NED Dr. Mubashir Ali Siddiqui, Dean NED, Dr Muhammad Tufail and Advisor Dr. Maaz Akhter along with NED students.

Governor Sindh said that with sheer hard work and untiring devotion nothing is impossible and this is the reason that Pakistani students have performed wonders in all walks of life. On achieving the distinction of first public sector university to take part in such competition, Governor Sindh said that the students of NED were to be congratulated for achieving this unparallel honour, he added.

Governor Sindh said that their participation in such an international gathering would definitely convey the soft image of Pakistan to the world and it would also help in recognition of abilities of Pakistani students, irrespective of success or defeat, in the competition.

Formula SAE is one of the biggest global engineering design competitions which focus on small Formula-Style racecars and their design as well as manufacturing. It is a unique competition that challenges young engineering students around the world to design and build the mechanical car. During competition, the vehicles will be put through a tough session of technical and manufacturing inspection by the panel of experts. According to the KE’s press statement, this would be the first and the only team representing Pakistan in Italy this year where 250 teams from USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Japan, Brazil and Australia would be competing. The event is going to be held at Varano de’ Melegari Riccardo Paletti Circuit in Italy.
