K-Electric Speeds-Up Its Operation Burq – Police, FIA and Rangers Continue Operation against Electricity Thieves and Defaulters

Orangi, Korangi, Qasba, Nazimabad, North Karachi, Mehran Town, Machar Colony, Lyari, Clifton, Tipu Sultan, Khokhar Club, and various areas of Johar see stern raids

Karachi, 18th May, 2015: Operation Burq, a project of K-Electric, is now underway across various areas of Karachi. Officials of KE along with FIA, Police and Rangers are busy carrying out search and apprehend operation against KE’s defaulters and electricity thieves around the clock.

According to a press statement, Police and Rangers uncovered over 1800 kg of hook connections in Mehran Town and took strict disciplinary action against the wrong-doers. Previously, this area was a no-go zone for KE officials and any attempts at removing hook connections had remained unsuccessful, but with the assistance of Rangers the team successfully removed every bit of the 1800 kg hook connections.

In another similar raid in Machar Colony, area under Lyari dominion, the Operation Burq team uncovered 650 kg of hook connections while meting out stringent disciplinary action against the offenders. KE officials also took part in raids across various Clifton areas, where a large amount of hook connections were removed and action taken against the offenders.

KE official while discussing Operation Burq’s progressive start stated, “This operation is against every KE defaulter and electricity thief irrespective of any influence. Just last week, KE carried out a similar operation against Sindh Government’s Advisor. Raids carried forth in Orangi and S.I.T.E have also culminated in the apprehension of influential personalities. KE will continue carrying out these raids alongside the security agencies and will ensure stringent punishment against every electricity thief. The law enforcement agencies have also nabbed numerous culprits throughout these raids and further lawful action will be carried out against them.”

KE officials also carried forth raids in various areas of Gulistan-e-Johar, during which a Mobile Tower in PIA Society belonging to a certain Telco was also found involved in electricity theft. Stringent action was taken against the culprits.

Through these initial endeavors, KE continues to send a strong message to its defaulters and electricity thieves that through Operation Burq regardless of the status quo, each individual shall face stringent consequences. KE will continue to work alongside Police, FIA and Rangers to apprehend these culprits and combat electricity theft in the city.
