November 27, 2014: K-Electric took stern action by disconnecting a few connections of three Government departments run by Sind Government. The decision came into effect when these departments failed to pay their outstanding dues payable to power utility.
KE mentioned that all three departments owed the company more than Rs. 239.2 million with Public Health Engineering, Directorate College and Director School Education’s outstanding dues being Rs. 110 million, Rs. 29.2 million and Rs.100 million respectively. The company pointed out that it had disconnected 113 connections that were supplying power to these 3 departments.
According to the KE spokesperson, “We strictly follow a zero-tolerance policy against defaulters and these aforementioned departments failed to clear their dues. As per our policy, several notices were issued to them, but they didn’t pay any heed to the warnings and the Provincial Government should play a more responsible role.”
KE’s spokesperson further notified that at present the company had not cut off all the connections but if dues were not paid even after this warning, it would take more serious action by disconnecting all the connections provided to these public departments.
KE urged the relevant authorities to ensure full cooperation in clearing the dues at the earliest possible time.
