Karachi – June 17, 2019: In response to the news related to power supply status and demonstration at Ghazi Town, Malir on Sunday, K-Electric reiterates that the power supply to all parts of the city remained normal and that there have been no reports of extended power outages from any part of the city.
Unprecedented rise in temperatures during peak summer has led to a sharp increase in the demand of electricity but KE has made continuous investments in its generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure and continues to remain committed to providing maximum relief to residential customers during peak summer. It is also pertinent to mention that more than 70% of the city is exempt from load-shed today as compared to only 23% in 2009, as a result of the continuous efforts by the power-utility to combat power-theft which is a societal menace.
Areas where power theft and kundas are heavily prevalent experience more faults, which should not be misconstrued as load-shed. In addition to causing load-shed, these illegal abstractions damage the power infrastructure, causing faults and trippings and create safety hazards for residents of the areas.
A K-Electric spokesperson said in this regard, “KE teams are available round the clock to address any localized faults and customers can reach out to our call centers on 118 or via text message on 8119. Customers can also direct their queries to KE’s social media platforms or through the KE Live app.”
