Karachi 06 August, 2018: K-Electric (KE) Kickers defeated Karachi Women Football Club with a score of 3–1 at the opening match of Under-19 National Women’s Football Championship, held in Lahore.
K-Electric Kickers had their captain Rubab Khan to thank as she scored all the three goals in the 9th, 21st and 68th minute. Meanwhile Karachi WFC continued to threaten at the other end and they eventually breached the KE Kickers defense when Fatima managed to score in the 65th minute and reduced the margin.
Post-match, Rubab hailed her team and said, “To score these goals on a national football stage is a dream come true – but it could not have been possible without the teamwork and the determination of my team.”
While this is K-Electric’s first-ever participation in the National Women Football Championship, the utility pioneered the Girls Football League in Karachi which was the first corporate-backed girl’s football league and attracted 128 young female footballers associated with 8 football clubs.
The National Women’s Football Championship is the highest national level competition for women’s football in Pakistan and was created in 2005 by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). The National Women U-19 Championship commenced in Lahore at City School Sports Complex with 13 participant teams on August 1 and will conclude on August 12.
