KARACHI – 29th October, 2014: According to K-Electric press statement the company has been facilitating commemorative meetings and processions as part of its program to support local administration for maintaining law and order during the first 10 days of Muharram-ul-Haraam.
The program includes exemption of feeders, availability of emergency generators, functioning of four regional control rooms as well as special transmission and distribution teams to address unexpected faults in its network. These teams would be in continuous contact with the City Administration and Law Enforcement Agencies to help them maintain law and order.
Since the beginning of Muharram, uninterrupted supply of electricity is being provided from 6pm to 7am to more than 250 feeders located in areas where Majalis and processions are taking place. These areas were identified by Ulemas in meetings with law enforcement agencies and the city administration.
“KE always goes the extra mile to facilitate Karachiites on special occasions and this Muharram we will once again try our best to ensure that people are not inconvenienced,” said KE’s spokesperson.
At 16 major locations emergency generators would also be available in case of unexpected breakdowns. These locations include Bara Imam Bargah, Rampart Road; Aza Khana-e-Zehra, Soldier Bazar; Mehfil-e-Shah Khurasan, Sodier Bazar; Nishtar Park; Khaliqdina Hall, M. A. Jinnah Road; Mehfil-e-Murtaza, PECHS; Shah-e-Najaf, Martin Quarters; Markazi Imambargah, Jafar-e-Tayar Society, Malir; Imambargah Mehdi Akhir Uz Zaman, Gulistan-e-Johar Bloc 19; Imambargah Abbas Town, Scheme 33; Imambargah Shohada-e-Karbala, FBA Block 20; Imambargah Al-Mohsin, FBA Block 16; Imambargah Buturab, FBA Block 8; Imambargah Rizvia, Rizvia Society; Imam Bargah Aley-e-Muhammad, 5C-3, North Karachi & Imambargah Shohada-e-Karbala, Lyari.
