Karachi, 14th November 2016: In line with its ongoing mission of attaining energy conservation and efficiency goals, K-Electric has launched a plan to implement ISO 50001 Energy Management System within the organization.
According to KE’s press statement, the ISO 50001 standard provides a comprehensive framework to implement an Energy Management System to achieve optimal energy performance under a continuous improvement plan. This will allow the utility to further integrate energy management, efficiency and conservation into its overall operations and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other related environmental impact.
While developing and implementing a system in line with the ISO 50001 standard, KE’s spokesperson said that the company strives to implement best electric utility practices in sustainable energy technology, build alliances and inspire new energy ideas and energy efficiency actions. This certification would reiterate KE’s commitment to globally recognize Sustainable Development Goals and its commitment to address climate change. Adhering to this standard would help KE be ranked amongst the top utilities in the world.
Previously, KE has received various accolades from renowned institutions such as National Fire and Safety Award, EFP Award, Energy Leader Award, HS&E Award, ISO-certified Awards and 7th National Environment Excellence Award for adopting best practices in promoting sustainability including health and safety within the company.
