Karachi – October 25, 2016: Continuing efforts to curb electricity theft and reduce losses, K-Electric’s team conducted its anti-theft raids in Korangi where illegal connections being used by commercial customers were removed. The utility disconnected over 160 connections which included connections of commercial defaulters.
KE teams conducted a kunda removal operation in Raza market of Korangi. Hook connections weighing 230 kg were successfully removed by the team whereas penalty notices were served to defaulters. The dues in the areas stand at more than PKR 1.2 million.
According to KE spokesperson, “The area was infested with illegal wiring and theft, also causing faults and tripping in adjoining areas. This drive will enable the provision of reliable power supply to the residents and also help enhance load management in surrounding areas due to reduced losses.”
KE focuses on continuous process improvements and several projects are being explored to achieve greater efficiency and energy loss reduction such as installation of Aerial Bundled Cabling, Smart Meter Initiative, Mobile Meter reading amongst others.
