Karachi – September 03, 2016: K-Electric has installed and energized 06 pole mounted transformers (PMTs) and other necessary electricity infrastructure at Chishti Nagar in Gulistan-e-Jauher. Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Shamim Mumtaz inaugurated the project in the presence of KE team and other dignitaries.
Chishti Nagar was previously infested with illegal wiring and theft, also causing faults and tripping in adjoining areas. This project will enable the provision of reliable power supply to the residents of Chishti Nagar through over 800 new electricity connections.
According to KE spokesperson, “The new system installed at Chishti Nagar will enable us to provide electricity to 800 new households and also enhance load management in surrounding areas. We are grateful to Sindh government for their collaboration and support.”
KE focuses on continuous process improvements and several projects are being explored to achieve greater efficiency and energy loss reduction such as installation of Aerial Bundled Cabling, Smart Meter Initiative, Mobile Meter reading and many more.
Since 2009, KE has invested $1.2 billion and added 1037 megawatt in the grid with a commitment to further invest $2.2 billion as part of its overall future investment plan. Moreover, TP-1000 Transmission Enhancement Plan of $400 million was also announced last year which aims to add 1000 MVA in the transmission and distribution infrastructure and will ensure a smoother and more reliable supply of power for K-Electric customers in Karachi and its adjoining areas.
