Karachi 24th October, 2014: In its press statement K-Electric has said that it has accelerated its efforts against electricity theft and its non-paying customers throughout the city. Giving details it said that KE has disconnected 7 PMTs near the Lyari Expressway due to poor recovery and persistence by the residents for illegal hook connections.
Press statement added that these 7 PMTs have an outstanding amount of over PKR 113 million whereas the monthly paying ratio has gone below 30%, which is making it difficult for KE’s operations. Okhaimemon SS PMT is on top of the list with almost Rs.70 million of outstanding, whereas other disconnected PMTs include Fida Hussain pmts, Mushtaq Ahmed PMT and Bilal Masjid PMT.
KE would also like to point out that notices and reminders were sent to these defaulters which were ignored and all efforts went in vain, hence these defaulting PMTs had to be disconnected. It is pertinent to mention that as part of KE’s Kunda Removal Drive, illegal hook connections have been taken off and confiscated numerous times, but these residents resort to such illegal hook connections which leaves KE little choice.
